Have you ever wonder why people hate fast food? Seriously out of the millions of people in the world, I have only met a few brave enough to say that they LOVED fast food. After much prayer and inner struggle with fast food I realized why I hate it so. Fast food is very, very not needed. It is based on luxury and want, rather than on need. Sure you can lie to yourself and say, “I’m too busy for anything else.”(Trust me I have said that lie a lot!) Or, “I haven’t got money for anything else.” Look if you buy $1.00 burger (who buys one burger, I’m giving the most over weighted country in the world the benefit of the doubt…no?) for three meals for seven days that equals out to be a whopping total of $21.00, no tax was included in this week of “tasty treats”. You can buy something better for you it just takes a little bit more time to prepare. If you buy bread, meat, cheese, milk, and fruit, heck you can through in juice and cereal for 20 bucks, you get more variety, more flavor, and better bowel movements. You feel better about yourself when you eat right and exercise, you look better, your sex life is better (if you married), your life is just better. Fast food cannot compare to the joys of eating right and exercising. Fast food chains know they are not needed so they have dollar menus or “specials” to make money because they are desperate for your business. They need you.
Following Jesus has sadly followed the road of fast food. You go in and find “spiritual food” and immediately we want it. So we say a prayer or we get dunked right then. People today follow Jesus without counting the calories or seeing if he is better food. It seems churches today, or in my case campus ministries, are more concerned about the quantity of the people coming in rather than the quality of lifestyle these people are truly living for Christ. This is demonic. It makes me sick and it should do two things to you…. Hack you off because this note is about you, or open your eyes to what Satan is trying to do to Jesus’ Bride today.
I look around at most colleges and see Christian people and organizations standing in front of the cafeterias, dorms, or crowded areas and beg people to “check their ministry out”. “Just come and see and you won’t be disappointed!” or, “Hey, we are doing and we would love for you to be there.” This is pathetic, Christians stop validating ourselves, our ministries, and our lives by the attendance the world has to offer. It makes Jesus seem like he is in need and Jesus isn’t needy for attention of the world….. You are. There once was a guy in the bible. He had a lot, ruled a lot, and was young. And better yet he wanted to go to heaven…hold on ladies he is a dreamboat rich, young, and “spiritual” clearly he would be popular at Christian College. However, he had a problem he needed to be needed. He was desperate for attention of the world to the point it cost him his salvation. And when he walked away did Jesus say, “I’m just joking,” or “well you don’t have to sell everything to follow me.” Or better yet, “Just say a prayer and you can follow me forever!” No that’s what Satan says. Jesus did what most College Ministers are trained not to do, Jesus let him go. Rather chase dead ends, that right CHASE A DEAD END, Jesus took the twelve and taught them not to be like that guy.
Jesus is not desperate for attention. Jesus isn’t looking for people to validate himself, or promote his business, or to look at his new dollar menu. Jesus is looking to give life. Paul says it like this. While we were still sinners Jesus dies for us. Peter knows firsthand that Jesus didn’t come to be liked, instead he came to serve.
So why are we now at this moment trying to validate our ministries, lives, families with people and not Jesus? If we just water down the message of Jesus, like McDonald’s waters down the size of their burgers (HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF THOSE SMALL THINGS?), and get people to attend, then our ministries will be successful. Stop. Stop trying to put more people in your doors and feed the people that are already in them. Maybe what the people in your ministry have always known is a fast food meal and they don’t even know the true food that Jesus has to offer. Heck, make sure they know who Jesus is. Stop making the message of Jesus look so needy. Start repenting. And let’s eat some better food.

I went to the Doctor on Thursday for a normal check up.
